ZURICH, Switzerland: Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI), a global leader in solutions for the energy transition and circular economy, announces its first-ever involvement in the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which takes place as COP 28 from 30 November to 12 December in Dubai.

HZI will be present in the so-called Green Zone for businesses, sponsoring the kiosks of Swiss sustainability startups and taking part in presentations and panel discussions as a sponsoring partner of Dubai Municipality.

“Being invited to this landmark event in partnership with the Swiss Embassy and the Dubai Municipality constitutes recognition of the hard work that our people do every single day, all over the world,” said HZI CEO Bruno-Frédéric Baudouin.

“And it shows that the business we are in – helping countries meet their climate goals through evolving waste management infrastructure – is seen as an important contribution to a sustainable future for us all,” he added.

Overview of HZI at COP 28:

• Sponsoring partner of the Swiss Startup Village: HZI is co-sponsoring the participation of six Swiss startups that provide sustainability solutions for the planet.
• HZI will take part in an Evening at the Swiss Embassy in Abu Dhabi for guests of COP 28 to discuss how smart waste management infrastructure helps cities achieve their sustainability goals.
• Sponsoring partner of the Dubai Municipality pavilion: HZI will take part in presentations and panel discussions on key themes.
• Panel discussion “No Time to Waste: Closing the Climate Loop” with the UAE Ministry of Environment & Climate Change in the Blue Zone for governments.

COP 28 coincides with the opening of the highest-capacity and most technologically advanced Waste to Energy facility in the world. The Dubai WtE plant, designed and co-operated by HZI, will divert nearly 2 million tonnes of waste away from landfill and generate power for more than 120,000 homes every year.

Tours of the WtE plant will be conducted with high-level dignitaries throughout COP 28.
