Hitachi Zosen Inova continues to expand its service offering to its UK customers. HZI has won two contracts to support Brockwell Energy: first for the commissioning and start-up activities of the new waste-to-energy facility in Grangemouth, Scotland, and then for the Operations and Maintenance of the plant for 25 years.

Hitachi Zosen Inova is currently building its 18th Waste-to-Energy facility in the UK and is proud to announce it has been chosen by long-standing customers Encyclis and Brockwell Energy to apply its considerable experience to operate and maintain the Earls Gate Energy Centre.

Farnborough, Hampshire, UK: Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) is delighted to have been selected to support Brockwell Energy to execute the Commissioning & Start-up activities, then followed by a long-term Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contract at the Earls Gate Energy Centre. This plant is being currently developed by joint shareholders Brockwell Energy and Encyclis (formerly known as Covanta Europe) and uses a non-HZI technology for the combustion.

This demonstrates that HZI not only has the capabilities to design, build and commission stateof-the-art waste treatment facilities; it also offers seamless global O&M services, supported by its highly skilled teams of operations and maintenance specialists working within the company’s expanding Systems & Service Solutions division to provide long-term services at Waste-to-Energy plants, whatever the combustion technology.

For many decades, HZI has firmly established itself as the leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction partner around the world. With its growing range of services and O&M expertise, this allows HZI’s customers to benefit from the company’s deep knowledge in safe,
efficient and optimised plant operations across their entire Waste-to-Energy fleet.

The Earls Gate Energy Centre is currently in its commissioning phase and will enter its operational phase with an expected takeover in late 2023.

Supporting the UK’s environmental goals of landfill diversion and energy security
This new Waste-to-Energy plant will support the UK and Scotland’s ambitions to reduce the need to landfill non-recyclable waste, widely recognised as the least sustainable form of waste management. The Earls Gate Energy Centre will soon treat waste as a valuable resource to generate electricity and support the UK and Scottish government’s goal to combat climate change and become low-carbon economies which future generations can be proud of.
