UK company awarded Ferrybridge Multifuel insulation contract

Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI), the main contractor for the Ferrybridge Multifuel power station that is currently under construction at the Ferrybridge ‘C’ Power Station site, has awarded the insulation contract for the project to UK company, Rainham Industrial Services (RIS). HZI is the Principal Contractor for Multifuel Energy Limited (MEL), a joint venture project company between SSE (owners of Ferrybridge Power Station) and Wheelabrator Technologies, which has committed to using UK and local contractors wherever possible.
RIS are a UK-based company who operate nationally with a number of regional offices. RIS will open a local site office shortly and a prefabrication workshop in order to service the Ferrybridge multifuel project contract. The insulation contract includes engineering, premanufacturing and material supply, as well as assembly of all of the insulation. Around 50 people will be employed on site, with the aim of hiring as many locally based qualified insulators as possible. Insulation works will begin in February 2014 and continue until the end of 2014.

RIS showed that it was the best supplier for this contract because of the sustainable cooperation, high quality and flexible site coordination that it demonstrated in its application”.
