Issy-les-Moulineaux, FRA

The Isséane WtE facility is located in a densely populated Parisian suburb on the banks of the River Seine with a view of the Eiffel Tower. The planners were keen to combine attractive architecture with environmentally friendly technology. With its red exposed masonry, the plant blends harmoniously into the surrounding urban architecture. The building is 52 metres tall, but only 21 metres – around the height of a six-storey block of flats – are visible. The remaining 31 metres are underground.
