Gas Upgrading

Technology

membrane-based gas separation

Biomethane Used For

feed-in to the grid

Volume Generated

680 Nm³/h of biomethane

The plant was built near Aberdeen airport as part of the energy centre supplying The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA) with sustainable energy. Biogas upgrading by membrane-based gas separation is ideal for treating the type of raw gases with a variable composition that usually results from the processing of residues. This HZI project is the first time 6-inch membrane modules have been used. Compared with the 4-inch forerunner, these allow a significantly higher upgrading capacity (up to 1,200 Nm³/h raw biogas) with a comparatively compact design. The gas is treated in a 40-foot membrane container and a 20-foot e-container.
