Switzerland wants to phase out nuclear power and cease net CO2 emissions by 2050. Energy from renewable sources, especially electricity from photovoltaics, is to replace nuclear power and fossil energies in the future. However, electricity production from solar and wind power fluctuates greatly.

This raises the question of how to store renewable electricity. How can we make photovoltaic electricity, which is abundant in the summer, usable for the sunless winter? How do we ensure that there is always enough electricity?

Among the storage solutions that reduce dependence on imports, many expectations are placed on power-to-gas technology. It transforms electric power into storable hydrogen or methane. This technology is the focus of the 1st Power-to-Gas Congress. It offers an overview of the current developments and presents power-to-gas projects that are being tested on the market.
