The WtE plant to the south of the Scottish capital Edinburgh treats the region’s municipal and industrial waste and generates electricity for around 32,000 households. A special feature of the system is a dry flue gas treatment unit downstream of the combustion process, which enables further energy recovery as well as reducing water consumption. The plant is part of the ambitious Zero Waste Scotland project.
