Hitachi Zosen Inova buys PJD’s Shares in UK Service Joint Venture

Creating a market leader in engineering and maintenance for the UK’s and Ireland’s energy sector

Farnborough, Hampshire, UK. In April 2019, Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) entered into a Joint Venture (JV) with PJD, one of the UK’s leading mechanical, engineering and maintenance suppliers to the Waste to Energy (WtE) and power production industries. HZI has now exercised its option to acquire PJD’s shares in the JV. The JV has been renamed into HZI Service Limited and will be led by Service Director Neil Buckland, the business will continue to focus on leading and delivering full ‘chute-to-stack’ service solutions for HZI built facilities in the UK and Ireland.

Since 2019, the JV has successfully delivered a range of market leading mechanical and engineering services to the majority of HZI’s installed waste treatment lines in the UK. During this period the market has continued to change and both partners recognise the need to adapt to ensure that the requirements of the market and our joint clients continue to be met in the future.

Neil Buckland, added: “HZI Service Limited recognises the need to continuously adapt, ensuring that we’re able to meet and exceed the technical and operational requirements at the growing fleet of WtE facilities in the UK – which includes Operational and Maintenance Support offering to new and existing plants.”

David Hayle, the Managing Director of PJD said: “Since the HZI-PJD JV was first formed in 2019, we have been actively involved on the majority of HZI installed waste lines in the UK and successfully delivering from a standing start, several million in revenue of essential mechanical and pressure part work. This is vital for keeping WtE plants operating efficiently, safely and reliably year on year. The change in ownership of the JV is both representative of this success and a logical next step.”

PJD will focus on delivering fully independent Mechanical and Pressure Part solutions in the UK, and Mat Warwick will be the principal point of contact for the WtE and Biomass markets.

Both businesses will continue to work closely with each other, building upon the strong relationships already forged at all levels, both internally within HZI / PJD and externally with their valued clients.
