Hitachi Zosen Inova Appoints Stephen Jones as Special Advisor

The former CEO and president of Covanta will support the company’s strategy and positioning as a key player in the global energy market.

Zurich, Switzerland. The cleantech company Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Zosen Corporation (TSE:7004), has appointed Stephen Jones as Special Advisor to the Supervisory Board.

Mr Jones formerly was CEO and president of the US company Covanta Holding Corporation (NYSE: CVA), a world leading provider of sustainable waste and energy solutions, from which he recently retired. Before that, he held a variety of senior-level management positions at Air Products and Chemicals Inc. (NYSE: APD), including roles in the tonnage gases, equipment and energy businesses. He also served as President of Air Products China, located in Shanghai. In his new function, Stephen Jones will offer his long-term expertise to HZI’s Supervisory Board to promote HZI’s sustainable growth in its key markets in Europe and North America.

Over the last few years, HZI has been considerably enhancing its portfolio and driving a strategic diversification in the area of renewable gases, which includes technologies for biogas production from dry and wet anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading technologies as well as hydrogen production and methanation of CO2. The climate change emergency and the compelling transition from fossil fuel to green renewable energies are boosting HZI’s growth in these technologies and require strengthened operations. In this context, Mr Jones has been invited to join the company board as Special Advisor.
