Another UK company awarded Ferrybridge Multifuel construction
HZI is the principal contractor for Multifuel Energy Limited (MEL), a joint venture partnership between SSE (owners of Ferrybridge Power Station) and Wheelabrator Technologies Inc., and it has committed to using UK and local contractors wherever possible. Caddick Counstruction Ltd has been chosen to construct a new parts store, a new building which will be added to the project to store components and equipment for when the plant is operational.
Caddick Construction Ltd will be setting up on site during May 2014 and the work is expected to take around three months to complete.
Franz-Josef Mengede, CEO of HZI said “We chose Caddick Construction Ltd for a number of reasons, including its professional attitude during the competitive tendering process. They are a locally-based company employing skilled local people, with experience of working within the power station environment. These attributes are very important to us when we select companies to work with.”
Andrew Murray, Managing Director from Caddick Construction Ltd said “We are delighted to have been awarded such an important contract, and on a project that’s so close to our company headquarters. The construction of Ferrybridge Multifuel 1 is a key project in the area and we are very proud to be involved.”
During construction of the Ferrybridge Multifuel 1 project, HZI aims to subcontract work to local and UK companies wherever possible, and aims to integrate local services into the project’s construction. Construction is due to be completed later this year and the plant is 2 expected to become commercially operational by summer 2015. For further information please visit www.multifuelenergy.com.
