Operating Support and Retrofit

Bringing out the best in a plant

Is your plant working at its best? Would you like to maximize its output? Are consumable inputs too high? Call on our well-trained specialists in all the relevant fields. They will analyze the plant’s metrics on site, prepare heat and mass flow analyses, simulate process streams and, if necessary, investigate samples in our own laboratories. Using this information, they will develop and implement optimization concepts for process sections or entire plants.

  • We do chemical analyses in our own laboratory in connection with emission requirements, emission problems and technical accidents.
  • Our proprietary software PAMELA, specially developed for monitoring energy-from-waste plants, provides the whole range of insights necessary for the optimum operation of a plant. It’s particularly useful when it comes to accurately scheduling maintenance interventions.
  • Well-trained staff are decisive for trouble-free plant operation. Our Interactive Training System (ITS) and simulator enable operating staff to acquire the necessary fundamental know-how to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

Retrofit

Tighter legislation and more stringent environmental and economic requirements are constantly presenting plant owners with new challenges. We provide holistic solutions and the latest technologies to help tap the full spectrum of efficiency and performance gain potentials at any plant. Here are some examples:

  • Modernization for extended service life.
Progressive technologies and processes, more efficient systems and components, and new materials are the resources we use to modernize a plant. This can typically involve replacing individual components such as heat exchanger plates or fans, renewing subsystems such as the combustion section or instrumentation and control elements, or the first-time installation of plant extensions such as flue gas desulphurization equipment. Our experience is derived from more than 400 plants, making us the ideal partner for any project dedicated to improving a facility.

  • Emission reductions for maximum ecological compatibility.
New legal constraints, lower permissible emission limits, and increases in the calorific value of fuels or new fuels usually constitute the point of departure for measures targeting emission reductions. We can help with primary measures (such as optimized combustion control) and/or secondary measures (electrostatic precipitator, or DeNOx). We have the know-how and technologies needed to ensure that the plant meets or exceeds even the strictest environmental standards.

  • Increased efficiency and higher steam output through constant supervision of heat exchangers.
The efficiency of heat exchangers such as superheaters, evaporators and economizers drops off shortly after start-up. With the help of continuous supervision and appropriate cleaning devices, we can increase efficiency with tailormade cleaning equipment and cleaning programs.

We will leverage our resources to maximize the operating life of your energy-from-waste plant, or boost the plant’s output and minimize emissions.
