Inova Semi Dry

Overview

Simple, effective and waste water free

The semi-dry flue gas treatment process removed acidic gaseous contaminants by neutralization using hydrated lime. Heavy metal compounds and organic contaminants such as dioxins and furans are separated by adsorption onto activated carbon in the same process step.

Circulated fluidized bed

Flue gas is contacted with the absorbent in a fluidized bed reactor (the turboreactor) to enable the reactions of pollutants like SO2, SO3, HCl and HF with the absorbent. The solid product particles are entrained from the turboreactor and collected in the downstream fabric filter. A portion of the solids which are discharged from the filter are recirculated and reinjected into the turboreactor to optimize the consumption of the absorbent.

Basically, this flue gas treatment process is characterized by the circulated fluidized bed principles:

  • High availability thanks to its simple construction
  • Remarkable plant flexibility relative to load changes and changes in gas contaminant concentrations in flue gas
  • Dry injection of hydrated lime, Ca(OH)2
  • Optimized use of absorbent, reducing cost of consumables due to inexpensive hydrated lime and keeping the residue quantities small
  • Compact design
  • Low maintenance cost
  • Low manpower requirement due to very simple operation

Versatility in process layout

This system is ideal for plants with limited space and no possibilities for waste water discharge, and for clients who expect reduced control and maintenance effort. HZ Inova Semi Dry can be integrated with other flue gas treatment processes in any desired way. Combining the HZ Inova Semi Dry process with a wet scrubber allows a further reduction in emissions and reagent consumption.

Low investment and maintenance cost

The HZ Inova Semi Dry system stands out for its compact design, which allows valuable space savings. Fluidized bed technology does not employ either rotating or wear parts. This not only reduces investment costs, but also keeps maintenance costs to a minimum. Moreover, thanks to the simplicity of the design of the system’s components, high levels of availability can be achieved.
