The 33rd EfW project with Hitachi Zosen Inova technology in China.
With the contract awarded to Hitachi Zosen Corporation from Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection Group for Changsha City’s first Energy from Waste (EfW) plant a further project will be realized with the technology of Zurich based Hitachi Zosen Inova.
Swiss Technology again in China
The Changsha City EfW plant would be the 11th installation being realized by Hitachi Zosen Corporation with the licensed technology of Hitachi Zosen Inova. The track record of Hitachi Zosen Corporation delivering the main equipment for large EfW plants with a processing capacity of over 500 tons per day and line in China has been highly evaluated in this award. By 2017 the capacity of the 33 EfW plants in China with the well proven Hitachi Zosen Inova technology reaches 10.5 million tons per year.
From Landfill to Energy from Waste
Until now, solid waste in Changsha City is treated by landfill disposal, so the first EfW plant in the city is expected to play a significant role not only in hygienic aspects but also as a power source of generating 517,500 megawatt-hours electricity each year. This will also make a major contribution to energy supply in the Hunan province capital with a population of 7.1 million. Hitachi Zosen Corporation has been awarded for conducting engineering and, supplying main equipment for six grate type incinerators with a processing capacity of 5,100 tons per day and a power output of 100 MW. “This order again shows that we have the right EfW technology for the booming Chinese market”, said HZI CEO Franz-Josef Mengede.
